Overview
Many of the original features such as rustic beams, substantial stone fire surrounds, doors to outside in each room, and exposed stone walls have been retained to create a relaxing and romantic ambience. It has been sympathetically restored using traditional building materials. The house is highly energy efficient, benefiting from under floor heating throughout and two open fires. Being on one level, it is particularly ideal for those with young children and those who have difficulty with steps. Beyond the enclosed garden walls there are fabulous views to the south, across undulating countryside. Within easy reach there are numerous footpaths and trails to explore.
Accommodation
The house has been converted to a high standard and is very comfortable.
Kitchen/living
A fabulous open plan kitchen and dining area with relaxed seating and an open fire at one end. The kitchen has a double electric oven and an induction hob, a large fridge, and a freezer with three drawers. There is a dish washer, microwave and a double sink. There is plenty of equipment in the kitchen, enough to satisfy cooks of all capabilities and aspirations.
The kitchen has been finished to a high standard with unique granite worktops, real wood floors and it is lit with low energy spot lights. The south side the room, where there is comfortable seating, benefits from floor to ceiling windows, allowing natural light to flood in and giving a glimpse of far reaching views.
Boot room
There is a utility area at one end of the kitchen, with Belfast sink, washing machine, and tumble drier and an area for boots, coats and outdoor gear.
Snug
Leading off from the kitchen is the snug, sitting in the heart of the building. Here you will find a place to hunker down during the winter months. We have reworked the original fireplace to accommodate a traditional wood burning stove. This room, like all the others in the property, benefits from an efficient under-floor heating system. The snug has a TV and DVD player and ample seating for you to relax in. There is also a good quality sofa bed to provide extra sleeping capacity should it be required. To the northern side of the sung there is another floor to ceiling window that allows the evening sun to fill the room. It should be noted that access from the kitchen to the rest of the cottage is through the snug.
Bedrooms and bathrooms
A passage leads from the snug to the bedrooms and bathrooms. The master bedroom is a generous size, with a walk in cupboard and an en-suite shower room, with basin and toilet. There is a king-size double bed with crisp white linen and plenty of towels are provided.
The main bathroom is equally well appointed with a bath with shower over one end, sink and toilet. All rooms have under-floor heating and the bath room and shower room have towel warming radiators.
The twin bedroom has some of the original stonework exposed and, like all of the other rooms, has a door giving access to the garden area.
